The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Patriots put together a very strong season last year as they went 23-14 and reached the Region Semifinals. Unfortunately, they fell to Science Hill to end the season, which has occurred the past three region appearances for Jeff-Co.  Looking ahead, they must replace Tanner Franklin on the mound, but ‘24 RHP/SS Beau Revord (Tennessee) will step into the ace role and play up the middle after garnering district player of the year honors last season. Behind Revord, ‘24 RHP Briley Larue and ‘24 RHP/3B Maddux Rogers will have to develop into the number two role to put them into the best position in district two. They’ll have a good amount of returning experience as well as offensive production. ‘23 OF/RHP Isaac Lawson was an all-state performer as a sophomore and participated in the TBCA showcase this summer. ‘23 OF Drew Potts logged an all district season last year and will be an run producer for the Patriots. Jeff-Co will go toe-to-toe with Sevier County again in a compact district and they’ll look to push beyond the Region Semifinals for the first time since 2017.
