The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Warriors turned in a great season as they captured the district title and swept through the region. They defeated Walker Valley in the sub-state and made a return trip to the state tournament after making an appearance in 2019. They dropped the opening game in extra innings, but bounced back to make a run to the semifinals to finish the year with a 27-16 record. This year they’ll return several key contributors, especially positionally. ‘24 UTL/RHP Bradley Pippin can play all the corner spots (C/1B/OF) and makes his return to the mound after being limited due to injury. ‘24 SS Caleb Jordan returns at shortstop and can make all the plays while serving as table setter role with his lefty bat in the lineup. ‘24 UTL/RHP Jaxon Pridgen and ‘23 RHP/3B Dakota Green will play key roles as two-ways and handle district duties on the mound. ‘24 RHP Camden Sholar is another developing arm that will be in the mix after getting some time last year. ‘23 OF Zan Currie will plug in the outfield and provide depth on the mound. ‘24 UTL/RHP Bryston Greene can play all over the infield and contribute on the mound as well. ‘25 C Gunnar Waldrop is a young backstop that can plug in behind the plate for a deep group. ‘24 C/1B Jax Nichols transferred in and has a big, powerful frame that could figure in the mix. ‘25 2B Bryce Messer and ‘26 Jacob Pugh are a couple underclassmen to keep eyes on this season. District seven will be a dog fight per usual as anybody can beat anyone, but the Warriors are expected to be towards the top with a chance to make a run as their pitching develops over the year.
