Scouting Director Notes

"6-foot-2, 195-pound backstop has made significant jumps throughout the offseason since last June.  Martin punished a series of baseballs during his BP round.  Sets up in balanced, slightly open stance.  Gets in the zone early, generating quick bat speed w/ high finish.  Drives the ball gap-to-gap w/ authority.  Behind the dish, much improved w/ smoother footwork and transfers, ball came out clean, good accuracy.  On the hot corner, possessed solid hands w/ natural movement patterns." - Colton Provey

6-foot-2, 195-pound  projectable frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter's 89 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. Started in a crouched open  stance, had a wrapping load and used a short stride right before his swing. Displays quick bat speed, an uphill swing plane and high finish. Line drive approach. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 79 mph across the field; had quick footwork and soft hands. While catching, displayed his ability to control the run game with a pop time of 1.86-1.99.  He made strong, efficient throws to second at velocities up to 75 mph. Showed a high ¾ slot with short arm action.

Hit: RHH. Crouched open stance, wrapping load, short stride stride. Quick bat speed. High finish, uphill swing. 

Power: 89  mph exit velocity.  line drive approach.
