By Matt Byrd
Director of Scoutinggardner

The Heritage High School baseball team traveled to Fort Myers, Florida last week, and senior outfielder Devon Gardner’s bat heated up in a big way in the Sunshine State.

The Moutaineers went 3-1 on the trip with Gardner being the catalyst in the three wins. The 6-foot, 150-pound senior outfielder went 11-for-17 with three doubles, four RBI, and eight runs scored during the four game span. He was instrumental in one-run wins over Riverdale (FL) and Estero (FL), and also in a rout of Dunbar (FL).

For the season, Gardner is hitting .533 with four doubles, two triples, five RBI, and 11 runs scored for the 5-2 Mountaineers. For his performance on the field last week, Devon Gardner has been selected at the PBR Tennessee Player of the Week for March 16-21.
