More than 70 of the top draft prospects from 15 states participated in the 13th annual Prep Baseball Report Super 60 Pro Showcase in front of a packed house of pro scouts at The Max in McCook, IL.  Two players from Tennessee represented the Volunteer State well in showing why they received the coveted invite to the event.

Ravenwood 3B Bryce Denton put on a performance that had many saying he was one of the top players atdenton the event.  Denton got his day started by running a 6.87 60-yard dash, a number that was the best among corner infielders.  Denton also showed good defensive ability at third base and posted throws of 85 mph across the infield which put him in the top 5 overall for infield velocity.  While those numbers were impressive, it was Denton’s rounds of batting practice that solidified him as one of the top players at the event.  He showed off impressive bat speed in smoking line drives while also flashing his power.  Denton left many scouts feeling he was one of the top hitters they saw during the day.

Hillsboro OF Vincent Perry proved he was one of the top athletes of the 41 position players in attendance.perry  Perry’s 6.60 60-yard dash was the third best time turned in at the event, and he made it look effortless.  He followed that up by showing athletic actions and good arm strength from the outfield at 86 mph.  At the plate, Perry showed a loose and easy swing, and while there is still some rawness to his offensive game, the tools are no doubt there for him to draw significant draft interest.  The one caveat to how much interest he draws may be his signability given that he is a University of Tennessee football recruit.
