The selection of this week’s Team of the Week was a relatively easy one.farragut

Farragut traveled to Cary, North Carolina last week for the prestigious National High School Invitational Tournament at the USA Baseball Complex. The NHSI features 16 of the top high school baseball teams in the country, and the Admirals represented Tennessee with an impressive 3-1 record at the event.

Farragut opened the tournament on Wednesday with a 3-1 loss to tournament Runner-Up College Park (CA). That was a classic pitcher’s duel as the Admirals’ Patrick Raby (Vanderbilt signee) squared off against College Park’s Joe Demers (University of Washington signee).

The Admirals bounced back from the loss in their opener to win their second game of the day on Wednesday with a 7-2 decision over Lambert (GA). Chase Fullington (North Carolina signee) went 2-for-3 with two doubles and Duncan Pence (Tennessee commit) added two hits and drove in a run in the victory. Dylan Pacifico pitched six effective innings to pick up the win.

On Friday, Farrragut defeated College Station (TX) 5-4 in an eight-inning thriller. Fullington and Pence were at it again, each collecting two hits while Carmelo Venero also went 2-for-4. Jake Hagenow went 3-for-4 with three big RBI in the game. Thomas Keyes and John Painter combined to throw five innings of one-hit, scoreless baseball.

The Admirals ended the tournament in grand fashion on Saturday with a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to defeat DeSoto Central (MS) 8-7. Pence doubled and drove in two runs in the win.

For their performance on the field, the Farragut Admirals have been selected as the PBR Tennessee Team of the Week.
