Tennessee Team of the Week: Hardin Valley Academy Hawks

It’s no secret the talent Hardin Valley Academy has on the roster this spring. The Hawks used that talent to get off to a 5-0 start on the season last week.

HVA started the season last Monday in grand fashion with a 15-1 rout of William Blount, but the next two games on the schedule would require come-from-behind efforts to secure victories.

On Wednesday, the Hawks squared off against a solid Maryville team and headed to the seventh inning with a 3-1 lead. Maryville scored three times in the top half of the inning to take a 4-3 lead, but HVA scored two of their own in their final at bat for a dramatic 5-4 early season win in walk-off fashion.

The next night, HVA rallied from a 4-3 deficit to score five runs in the bottom of the sixth for an 8-4 win over Seymour in game one of a double-header. In game two, a nice start on the mound from
Trevor Lloyd
translated into a 7-1 win and a sweep of Seymour on the evening.

The Hawks completed their 5-0 week on Saturday with a 15-4 win over Sequoyah that was highlighted by a monster day from junior outfielder Dylan Harris. Harris went 4-for-4 with three doubles, a home run, and five RBIs to lead HVA to the win.

For their performance on the field, the Hardin Valley Academy Hawks have been selected as the PBR Tennessee Team of the Week for March 9-14.
