The Buzz: Changes In Florida

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

It’s been a busy summer in recruiting. Players have put themselves back on the market, made changes as the coaching carousel goes through its rotation and some players have switched high schools.

Things have been especially busy in Florida. SS Mark Vientos, one of the top 2017s in the country, left Flanagan HS, FL, and will attend American Heritage HS, FL, for his senior year. RHP Brandon McCabe (Home School, FL) and 3B/RHP Joe Perez (Archbishop McCarthy HS, FL) are both uncommitted after de-commiting from Miami and South Florida respectively. Like a few fellow recruits, RHP Tyler Myrick (Columbia HS, FL) switched from Alabama State to Florida International with Mervyl Melendez taking over as head coach. SS Jeter Downs (SLAM Charter, FL) is now committed to Miami after de-committing from Central Florida. RHP Tommy Mace (Sunlake HS, FL), who was committed to Kentucky, is now committed to Florida. Lastly, RHP Tyler Ahearn will attend IMG Academy for his senior year instead of Dwyer HS, FL.
