Scouting Report

Scouting Director Notes
"The 6-foot-3, 200-pound righty has been waiting a long time to make his full return to the circuit. Well over a year out of Tommy John surgery, Burleson looked really sharp and back to 100% (Up to 87 in 2018).  Fastball sat 81-85, Top 87, smooth rhythm, quick arm w/ plenty more in the tank.  Best secondary was hard-biting 11/5 curveball (69-71) that’s going to generate a lot of swing n’ misses.  Showed ability to throw CH down in zone or miss down w/ slight fade.  At the plate, balanced setup w/ great bat speed.  Sprayed balls gap-to-gap, consistent hard-contact, can get extra base hits in bunches.  Potential collegiate two-way, who is just getting started in 2020."
1/20/20
6-foot-3, 200-pound  projectable frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter's 90 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. Setup is comprised of balanced stance and a short stride. Explosive bat speed and a flat swing plane, he ends his swing with level finish. Was able to create a lot of loud contact during his round. Gap to gap approach. In the infield, showed an ability to throw across the field at 80 mph; has rhythmic footwork and soft hands. Used a quick arm action with a ¾ slot. Advanced on the mound, he showed a loose arm action and an over-the-top angle. Has a tall balance point and uphill shoulders. Has an athletic finish and lands square. Produced a fastball that came in at 81-85 mph with a max of 87 mph; shows a hard movement. His 10/4 curveball (69-71) shows in the zone command. He had fading action on his changeup(68-72).
