January 22, 2025
COLLIERVILLE, TN - The Prep Baseball Memphis Preseason ID was held on Sunday, January 19th at Collierville High School in Collierville, TN. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Vald Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan during a bullpen setting. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.
Continuing our post-event coverage for the event, we take a look at some of the top performers from the Memphis Preseason ID. Please be sure to continue to check back as we release other leaderboards from the event, along with the scouting reports on all players in attendance.

Tyler DeHaan RHP / SS / South Gibson, TN / 2028Tyler DeHaan is a talented freshman with a versatile skill set that stood out on both sides of the ball. At 6 foot and 155 pounds, DeHaan has a lean, athletic frame that projects well for continued development. DeHaan recorded a solid 7.23 sixty-yard dash time, while not a burner, his speed is more than adequate, especially considering projected strength gains in the coming years. Boasted an impressive 89 mph max exit velocity via Trackman, consistently producing hard, low line drives. His swing mechanics show potential, though he'll need to focus on staying through the ball and incorporating more lift in his approach. Despite this, DeHaan demonstrates the present ability to handle velocity, and looks to develop into a dynamic hitter as he refines his mechanics. Defensively, his hands and actions are clean, and he looks capable of contributing as an infielder with present arm strength in the low 80’s. On the mound, DeHaan impressed with crisp movement patterns and clean mechanics. He sat comfortably in the 82-84 mph range with his fastball, while touching 85. There's still more velocity to tap into as he continues to grow and develop, but already demonstrates excellent feel for the strike zone. The slider shows pitchability for shape and location, and it will likely continue to improve with time. Additionally, his changeup exhibits quality depth and the right characteristics, suggesting he has the makings of a well-rounded arsenal. Showing that he has the ability to locate pitches consistently should give him opportunities to pitch at the varsity level this season as a freshman. DeHaan is a one to keep an eye on this spring and summer and we will circle back on him as he continues the maturing process.

Drake Anderson 2B / SS / Covington, TN / 2026Drake Anderson is a solid junior infielder with a good combination of athleticism and baseball instincts. Listed at 5'10" and 165 pounds, Anderson has a projectable frame that should continue to fill out, allowing for future power potential. Showing impressive barrel skills with a consistent ability to make hard contact. He would record an 82 mph average exit velocity with a max of 91 mph. His swing produces a mixture of line drives and ground balls, particularly through the middle of the cage. While his approach tends to be groundball-heavy at times, if Anderson can improve his ability to create natural loft in his swing plane, look for him to consistently produce more line drives with elevating the ball. Running a solid 7.13 sixty-yard dash, he would showcase quality foot speed for an infielder that should allow him to cover ground well defensively and contribute on the basepaths as he continues to develop. Anderson shows a steady presence in the infield with solid arm strength at 84 mph across the diamond. Demonstrating clean hands overall, but at times can let the ball attack him. Showed good balance and steadiness with his glove, particularly when receiving to the glove side. As he continues to refine his defensive actions, he has the tools to be a reliable infielder at the next level.

Jacob Martin RHP / OF / University School of Jackson, TN / 2027Coming into the Memphis ID, we have not previously heard much of Jacob Martin but left thoroughly impressed with his ability on the bump. The ‘27 USJ prospect comes in at 6 foot and 175 of lean and mobile parts. Showed elasticity in the arm action where he sat comfortably in the 84-86 mph range with feel for command. The frame suggests that there is definitely more to come as he continues to fill out and mature. The BB showed the right ingredients in terms of spin and pitch design shape but will need to learn to stay on top of the offering through home as it can get loopy. Overall was really impressive and one that we look forward to seeing again down the line.

Joshua Hull RHP / OF / Collierville, TN / 2026Josh Hull is a strong, athletic junior who brings a lot of potential both on the mound and at the plate. Standing at 6'1" and 190 pounds, Hull has a projectable frame that should continue to develop. A transfer from rival Houston High School, Hull will be a key addition to Collierville this spring, and depending on eligibility, should slide right into the rotation for the upcoming season. At the plate, Hull provided effortless bat speed, registering an average bat speed of 70 mph with a max exit velocity of 94 mph via Trackman. He consistently generated hard-hit balls, showing an ability to impact the baseball with authority. On the mound, Hull’s velocity was down slightly from where he was this summer at NPI, sitting in the 88-90 mph range and touching 91 mph. This is to be expected as he continues to ramp up for the start of his junior season, with two months of development still ahead. Hull’s fastball shows good life, and his ability to command it will be key as he further refines his pitching mechanics. Showed strong feel for two separate off-speed pitches, showcasing a good mix to keep hitters off balance. If he can put it all together, while keeping the walks at minimum, Hull looks to garner quite a bit of attention as he heads into his junior season.

Parker Burleson C / 3B / Collierville, TN / 2028The freshman Burleson left another impression on our staff as this is the first time seeing him since joining the high school level. Looked to have put on some good weight and looked cleaner in the body/swing mechanics. I left really impressed with the swing and the smoothness of it through the zone where he topped 90 mph in terms of EV, while showcasing great bat to ball skills averaging out to 80 mph during his BP round. The frame does have some doughiness to it and will need to work hard on his athleticism and footwork as he matures during his high school career to get the most out of himself but shows promise and upside. Had the highest Vizual Edge score with a 77, which translates to him picking up spin and ball out of hand early, which should aid him longterm. Present arm strength that is still developing but has a quickness and easiness to ball release. Good kid that loves baseball and has grown up around it. Will be one to watch as he develops.
