2025 OUTLOOK

+ The CPA baseball program finished the 2024 season going 26-12 and was eliminated by Christian Brothers in the state tournament. CPA returns 7 starters and 7 pitchers which makes for a veteran baseball team full of D1 talent.

In the senior class, CPA returns seven impact players. 2025 University of Tennessee commit OF Hutson Chance is a big athletic outfielder who has been signed with Tennessee for many years. Chance is a left handed hitter with big pop along with good speed. Chance will play shortstop this spring which shows his versatility. 2025 Dallas Baptist commit C/INF Reagan McCluskey is a former Future Games participant that showed himself as a legit defender with a 1.92 pop time. McCluskey also shows good power with a 92 mph exit velocity. McCluskey will also see time at second base for CPA. 2025 Lipscomb University commit C/3B Brock Beddingfield is a former Future Games participant who has shown to have a legit stick shown by his Mr. Baseball finalist recognition. Beddingfield is also a good catcher that has had a pop time as low as 1.83. 2025 Taylor University commit OF Quinn Kunkel is a left handed hitter with big time power and will return to the middle of the lineup for CPA. 2025 INF/OF Steele Chance will return to the middle of the lineup where he is a hit machine and is able to rack up RBI’s. 2025 OF Weston Parker is a tooled up center fielder for CPA. Parker has put up big numbers in showcases with a 95 mph exit velocity and a 6.8 60 time. Parker also has a big arm and has been up to 87 mph from the outfield. 2025 OF Chase Gregory broke into the CPA lineup last season and has shown to be a good defender and able to be a situational hitter.

The junior class is headlined by the two top pitchers in the rotation. 2026 Jacksonville State commit RHP Eli Dickey is a former Future Games participant who showcased a fastball up to 91 mph and a mid-70s slider that had an impressive 2667 spin rate. 2026 RHP Weston Willeford joins Dickey at the top of the rotation. Willeford was vital for CPA in 2024 as he is a strike thrower and has a 3 pitch mix. Willeford has gotten stronger and has his fastball up to 89 mph.

The sophomore class has three athletic players that will complement the upperclassmen well. 2027 Roman Abbagnaro is a tooled up outfielder for CPA that has shown a 99 mph exit velocity and a 6.92 60 time. Abbagnaro’s role should expand as a sophomore. 2027 RHP Cooper Daniel logged 30 innings as a freshman and has shown an ability to throw strikes. Daniel showed well at the Preseason All-State with a fastball up to 86 mph. 2027 UTL/RHP Jack VanOrman is another tooled up, versatile player for CPA that should also have a bigger role as a sophomore. VanOrman has a fastball that has been up to 86 mph. VanOrman also can swing it with a 92 mph exit velocity and a 7.04 60 time.

CPA has maybe the most veteran group of players in the state with an extremely talented senior class. If CPA can get some innings on the mound from some young pitchers, they will be in position to battle for a state championship.
