The 2025 Tennessee high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the state tournament championships – but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2025 OUTLOOK

+ The Coalfield High Baseball program enters 2025 with high expectations. In 2024, Coalfield went 23-12 making it all the way to the Region Championship. With 8 returning starters and 7 returners on the mound, Coalfield should be primed to make another run. Two of the impact seniors in this group will be 2025’s Luke Treece and Levi Heidel. Lee University commit Luke Treece is one of the best players in the state as he has racked up numerous accolades. Treece is a 3-time District Player of the Year and All-State. He is also a 2-time Mr. Baseball finalist with one win under his belt. Treece will serve as Coalfield’s primary catcher and also provide important innings on the mound. Levi Heidel returns as the primary leadoff hitter and outfielder. Heidel will also be one of the main pitchers on the mound. Another of the standouts will be 2026 Waylon Burgess. Burgess has a great frame for a pitcher standing at 6’3 and will come into the spring as the ace of the staff. Burgess has already been up to 88 mph and should have more in the tank. Out of the underclassmen, 2027 Jackson Treece will be one of the strongest members of a veteran team. Treece hit .429 as a freshman and went 8-2 on the mound earning him a spot on the TN Baseball Report All-Freshman team. Treece will also man the shortstop position. This Coalfield team is looking to take that next step and compete at the state tournament and go for the big prize come May.
