2025 OUTLOOK
+ The Cookeville High School baseball program comes into the spring coming off a 2024 season where they went 22-9-1 with a very young and talented team. They will return 7 starters along with 4 pitchers. Cookeville has 3 impact seniors returning in 2025’s RHP Jackson Roberts, INF David Owen and INF Evan Allen. Roberts will look to take a more prominent role in the rotation as he pitched primarily out of the bullpen last year. David Owen and Evan Allen both hit in the middle of the order and should anchor a very potent offense.
The junior class is loaded for Cookeville on the mound and at the plate. 2026 OF Ty Harrison returns as the leadoff hitter and corner outfielder. In the Preseason All-State, Harrison posted a 95 mph exit velocity and a 7.07 60 time. 2026 1B/LHP Landen Severance is a left-handed pitcher that should be one of the main district starters for Cookeville. He recently topped out at 83 mph at the Preseason All-State where he showed tremendous pitchability. Severance will also add pop to the lineup while sharing time at first base. 2026 MIF Tyler Smith will be the starting shortstop and showed good actions at the Preseason All-State while also posting a 7.28 60 time and 86.5 exit velocity.
Another really talented class for Cookeville will be the sophomore group. Headlining this group is 2027 C KJ Anderson, who is one of the best hitters in the state. Anderson was a big time standout at the Preseason All-State where he put up a 101.4 exit velocity, 7.08 60 time and a 1.9 pop time. Anderson is poised for another big spring as he not only anchors a strong lineup but will be tasked with being a strong presence behind the plate. Along with Anderson will be another impact sophomore in OF Jackson Jones who will return to center field. Jones is a speedy outfielder who also attended the Preseason All-State and put up a 6.95 60 time and 96 exit velocity.
Coach Derek Bush is excited about his team and believes they can win games in many ways with a strong offense, top of the line pitching and solid defense. Cookeville will be in good position to get through a tough district.
