2025 OUTLOOK

+ As the 2025 high school baseball season approaches, Greenfield High School’s baseball team looks to build on a promising 2024 campaign where they finished 17-11 in the district tournament. With eight returning positional starters and three returning pitchers, the team enters this season with a strong foundation, despite a youthful roster. A mix of upperclassmen leadership and the potential of underclassmen sets the stage for a competitive year ahead.

Junior Easton Sullivan will be one of the cornerstones of the team in 2025. As a versatile player, he’s poised to contribute both offensively and defensively in multiple roles. Behind the plate, he’s a standout catcher with great hands and a quick trigger behind the plate. On the mound, Sullivan has the ability to control games with his pitching, and at the plate, he’s been a consistent hitter, batting over .400 last season. Expect Sullivan to be a key leader for Greenfield in both the infield and on the mound. Sophomore Will Edwards is one of the team’s top pitchers coming into the 2025 season. With a mid-80s velocity and the ability to control the plate, he can dominate opposing lineups on the mound. In addition to his pitching ability, Edwards is a reliable hitter and a versatile player, able to contribute at third base and behind the plate. His development over the offseason has set him up for a breakout year, and he is a top underclassmen to watch in 2025. Senior Elijah St. Romain returns for his senior season as one of the team’s top outfielders and leaders. His combination of size, speed, and defensive ability in center field will be crucial for Greenfield’s success in 2025. At the plate, he’s a capable hitter with the ability to drive in runs and create scoring opportunities for the Jackets. Senior Landon Clark brings experience to the outfield and a presence in the lineup that will provide the team with a reliable bat in the middle of the order. A seasoned senior, Clark’s leadership and ability to handle pressure situations will be key as the team navigates the challenges of a young roster. Junior Caden Sparkman is an imposing figure at first base, both defensively and offensively. His size and power make him a significant threat at the plate, and his fielding skills will anchor the infield. Expect Sparkman to contribute heavily in the power department and be a key run producer for the club this season. Freshman Baker Biggs is one of the most exciting newcomers for Greenfield, Biggs has impressed with his skills at shortstop and second base. Despite his youth, he has a strong baseball IQ and is expected to make an immediate impact in the lineup. His ability to handle the pressure of high school baseball will be something to watch as the season progresses and could be crucial for the squad come postseason.

Despite the high number of sophomores and freshmen on the roster (10 out of 14 players), the Greenfield squad is loaded with talent and potential. If the team can harness its youthful energy and combine it with the leadership of its four upperclassmen, they will be a formidable force in their district. Also having two arms with experience and ability should give them a 1-2 punch to match up in district play and beyond. Look for a deeper run this season for the Jackets with a bright future for years to come.
