The 2025 Tennessee high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the state tournament championships – but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2025 OUTLOOK

+ The University High baseball program finished 2024 going 28-11 and finishing as the State Runner-Up to Eagleville. This spring, they return 5 starters and 4 pitchers. 

The senior class returns three impact players from the state tournament team. 2025 OF/LHP Cooper Stevenson is a contact hitter that gets on base and causes havoc. He was also a 2024 All-State player. 2025 RHP/OF Sam Duncan was the District Pitcher of the year in 2024. He uses a deceptive three-quarters arm slot and sits between 80-82. 2025 INF Patrick Boynewicz is a good sized middle of the order hitter that possesses a high baseball IQ. 

In the junior class, 2026 INF/RHP Knox Poston is a big athletic player that plays middle infield for University High. Poston will also be one of the main arms as he sits 82-84 on the mound. 

The sophomore class might have the most intriguing player on the roster in MIF/RHP Cole Stevenson. He is a 3 sport athlete and possesses a long and athletic frame. Stevenson looks to start in the middle infield and also be a force on the mound sitting 82-83. 

University High has established themselves as a powerhouse at the 1A classification. They have been to every state tournament since 2018. They came close last year finishing as the State Runner-Up. They come into this spring with a veteran group hungry to get back to the state championship and finish the job.
