2025 OUTLOOK
+ Wartburg Central is coming into the 2025 spring season after an up and down 2024 season. The season was a tale of two halves. March was not kind to the Bulldogs as they would go 2-6, while giving up more than 10 runs in four of those losses. April, however, was a different story, where the club would go 7-6 with some quality wins sprinkled in there. Leading the charge for the Bulldogs will be senior pitcher Brandon Woods, who will also be a middle of the order hitter and has competed at a high level for some time. Senior Ethan Shannon is another arm that has competed for the Bulldogs for some time. He provides quality command, while also hitting .349 with 33 RBI’s last season. Senior Lawson Swint will provide a spark in the top half of the lineup where he hit .349 last season with 25 runs scored after a breakout season. Junior Evan Crouch will anchor the infield defensively while being a leader in the dugout. Brandon Woods and Ethan Shannon should be able to pitch at the next level and will carry the Bulldogs on the mound this season. The club will also have a trio of underclassmen in sophomore Noah Shannon, a talented hitter with a big arm. Then you have freshman Parker Rogers, a solid player looking to contribute immediately and Parker Beene, who can play all over the field. This team strength looks to be pitching depth and experience on the offensive side. Look for the Bulldogs to outdo their 14-16 record and make it out of their district tournament, where they look like a top two team in their district.
