Coach Chad Koehl and his Smithson Valley Rangers look to make a run to the playoffs after a strong start to the shortened 2020 season. Smithson Valley returns starters up the middle on the diamond and also on the mound. In the lineup, they return 2021 OF Garrett Brooks (UTSA signee), 2021 RHP/1B Brandon Taylor, SS Ryan Ruff, 2022 OF Kasen Wells (Texas A&M commit), and 2023 C Ethan Gonzalez (Texas Tech commit). Coach Koehl also has a few newcomers that could be look to contribute to his lineup this year in 2021 3B John Garza, 2022 RHP/OF Tim Arguello (Wichita State commit) who moved in from San Antonio Christian, 2023 UTL David DeHoyos (Texas Tech commit), and 2023 CIF/RHP Cooper Burgess. Along with Taylor, they return two other pitchers who tallied innings during 2020 in 2021 RHP/2B Cameron Hodges and 2023 LHP Jackson Elizondo. Look for 2021 RHP/OF Christian Keller, 2022 RHP/1B Greyson Havens to get innings for Smithson Valley as well as Arguello and Burgess.
