The 2023 high school baseball season is underway with practice having started and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Austin at the State Tournament, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and eventually releasing our preseason Top 30 teams in the state.

Team Outlook:
Clear Creek comes into the 2023 season looking to repeat as district champs and make an even deeper run in the playoffs. Coach Kunefke and his staff are primed for a big spring with key players from last years regional quarterfinalist team returning.
Offensively, the Wildcats be led by Sr. Infielder Aaron Aceves, Jr. Utility Jackson Babcock, Jr. OF Dylan Russo, and last years district newcomer of the year, Walker Hurst. Seniors, Tucker Marquez, Scott Martinez and Cameron Martin look to add depth to the lineup this year.
On the mound, the Wildcats are led by Jr. LHP Tyler Austin, who was 1st team all district last year, and by LHP Conner Clark, who is signed with Grayson County. They will also look for contributions from Jr. LHP Talan Plott as well.
Clear Creek has a good blend of upperclassmen and a talented sophomore class that will help them continue their path to making a deep playoff run. I expect we will be talking about them a couple rounds into the playoff this spring.
