Prep Baseball Texas Staff

The 2025 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Under Head Coach Ben Huffman, Cedar Park looks poised for another competitive season in the state’s 5A class. The Timberwolves are coming off a strong 2024 campaign with a 28-8-5 record and a trip to the Regional Quarterfinals. This year’s squad will look a little different from last year’s, and rely on their defense and baserunning in 2025.

The team will benefit from the return of key contributors, led by senior RHP Kyle McClure, a 2024 Second Team All-District selection known for his ability to deliver in clutch situations as an All-District reliever last spring. He’ll likely anchor a rotation complemented by the versatile Bryce Schneider, a two-way player committed to Dodge City Community College. Hudson Cuevas, the 2024 District Newcomer of the Year, brings energy and versatility to both the infield and pitching staff, while sophomore outfielder Mack Galindo adds depth to the lineup. Our staff is familiar with Cuevas, dating back to when he was a Prep Baseball Junior Future Games participant in the summer of ‘23. We recently saw him at the Texas State Games: Underclass, where the No. 38 player in the state and No. 260 player in the country showed to be a reliable defender, as well as a steady bat. With promising newcomers like MIF Owen Mansfield and CIF/RHP Damian Alonzo joining the mix, the Timberwolves will have the tools to remain competitive in a district filled with tough opponents. Mansfield is another player our staff is familiar with, as he is currently ranked No. 130 in the state, and showed well recently at the San Antonio Fall ID. If the Timberwolves can continue to play solid defense and capitalize on their speed, Cedar Park has the potential to emerge as a serious contender in 2025.
