The 2025 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Under Head Coach Troy McCartney, the Celina Bobcats enter the 2025 season with high expectations. Following a stellar 37-7 campaign in 2024 that culminated in a deep playoff run as Regional Finalists, the Bobcats are poised to build on their strong foundation in 2025. With a roster blending seasoned leaders and promising newcomers, Celina looks ready to contend at a high level again.

Anchoring the squad are standout returners like RHP/INF Brady Broeckel, the reigning District Pitcher of the Year, who brings both dominance on the mound and versatility in the infield. OF Gavin Reed, the 2024 District Newcomer of the Year, provides a spark in the outfield and at the plate, while RHP Evan Rice adds depth and experience to the pitching staff. Newcomers such as Tyler Hahn and Case Chelf bring more versatility, with Chelf showcasing potential as a two-way. Freshmen Walker Grubbs and Maximus Combs are two younger players to watch in the program and could be names to know for future years. With their returning roster and team culture, the Bobcats are primed to be a contender again in the 2025 season.
