Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Corsicana Tigers baseball team heads into the 2025 season riding the momentum of a strong 2024 campaign under the leadership of Head Coach Heath Autrey, the reigning District Coach of the Year. Coming off a 26-7 record and a run to the Area Finals, the Tigers are well-positioned for another successful season. With seven starters returning, Corsicana will rely on its defense and experience to navigate a competitive schedule and make another deep playoff push.

Leading the way is standout infielder Easton Autrey, a Texas commit from the class of 2026. Autrey’s accolades in 2024 included Second Team All-State honors and the District Offensive Player of the Year award, showcasing his ability to impact the game both offensively and defensively. His leadership and production will be pivotal in anchoring the Tigers' lineup and setting the tone for the season. We recently saw the Longhorn pledge and No. 14 player in the state and No. 89 player nationally at our Texas State Games: Upperclass. The left-handed bat had a loud showing; reaching a max exit velocity of 103.6 mph (avg. 96 mph), while also posting a max distance of 384 feet during batting practice.

Supporting him is a strong cast of returning players, including outfielder Trenton Bruton, a 2024 First Team All-District selection, and versatile contributors like Josh Portillo and Conner Perkins, who bring all-district recognition and the ability to excel in multiple roles.

Corsicana also welcomes an infusion of young talent with newcomers Maddux Dill and Jaxon McGraw from the class of 2028. Dill, a promising right-handed pitcher and infielder, is expected to make an immediate impact on the mound and at the plate. McGraw’s versatility as a catcher and utility player adds depth and flexibility to the roster. Alongside returning players like Isaiah Miranda, Blake Phillips, and Walker Smith, the Tigers boast a blend of experience and youthful energy. With a solid defensive core, emerging young talent, and Coach Autrey’s proven leadership, Corsicana has the tools to contend for a district title and aim for a deeper playoff run in 2025.
