The 2025 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Head Coach Billy J. Hardin and the Cy-Fair Bobcats are poised for another successful campaign in 2025. Competing in the highly competitive 17-6A UIL classification, the Bobcats will look to build on their impressive 32-11 record in 2024, which saw them crowned District Champions and advance to the Regional Finals. Expecting to be known for their pitching and defense in 2025, Cy-Fair’s depth on the mound and strength in key defensive positions make them one of the teams to beat in the district.

The Bobcats return a strong core of players, led by shortstop Bo Caraway (Baylor commit) and LHP/OF Dylan Rostron (Odessa College commit), both of whom bring valuable experience and leadership. The team’s depth in pitching is plentiful, with Nathan Preto, Tyler DeBoer, and Clayton Crosby all poised to play critical roles on the hill this spring. Rising players like Wade Sebek, the 2024 District Rookie of the Year, and Isaac Robles, the reigning District MVP and Rice commit, provide additional firepower on both sides of the ball. Junior Jordan Schoenvogel is also expected to make an impact, while promising newcomers like Brayden McDaniel and Finn Venker add depth and versatility to an already talented roster.

With a strong mix of experienced veterans and emerging talent, Cy-Fair is well-positioned to contend for another deep playoff run. Freshman standout Cole Cotten is one to watch, as his potential on the mound and at shortstop could contribute to the team’s success down the stretch, if called upon. The Bobcats will aim to make an even deeper playoff run in 2025, and are a team to keep an eye on throughout the spring.
