We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Frisco Lone Star Rangers, under Head Coach Joey Franke, are poised for another strong season in 2025. Coming off a 26-14 record and a deep playoff run that ended in the regional quarterfinals in 2024, the Rangers bring back a wealth of experience and a strong pitching staff that could propel them even further in 2025. With a mix of veteran leadership and emerging talent, the team’s ability to dominate on the mound and rely on key returning position players makes them a potential contender in the state’s 5A class.

At the core of Lone Star’s success is its pitching depth, led by senior standouts Ross Norman, Houston Farrar (Ouachita Baptist), and Luke Day, all of whom will play pivotal roles in keeping opponents off balance. Joining them is LHP/OF Dominik Martinez, a versatile junior talent who can contribute both on the mound and in the outfield. Newcomers Ryan Hansberger and Brayden Fryman bring additional depth, giving Coach Franke the luxury of a deep rotation. The defense will be anchored by standout shortstop James Dagenhart, a Pittsburg State commit and 2024 First Team All-District honoree, whose presence up the middle will be critical in complementing the pitching staff.

Offensively, the Rangers will rely on a balanced lineup that combines returning veterans and promising underclassmen. C/3B Josh Villa, 1B/UTL Chase Lanham, and INF/OF John Madden will provide stability and production, while sophomore Austin Basile and freshman Bryce Holland bring exciting potential to the infield. Behind the plate, the duo of Josh Villa and Jackson Greenway ensures Lone Star is solid in handling its strong pitching staff. With a mix of returning contributors like Eric Aguilar and emerging players such as Brock Buchanan and Jose Robles, the Rangers could have the versatility and depth to produce runs in key moments. The 2025 season looks bright for Frisco Lone Star, with their experience and pitching likely to make them a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs once again.
