2025 High School Team Preview: Lubbock Coronado Mustangs

The 2025 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Under Head Coach Brad Bibb, the Lubbock Coronado baseball team enters the 2025 season with high hopes following a challenging 2024 campaign that ended with a 13-19 record. The team’s strength lies in its depth, internal competition for starting roles, and a wealth of pitching options. This combination provides a foundation for steady improvement and increased competitiveness as they aim to clinch a playoff berth in 2025. With a strong mix of returning talent and promising newcomers, Coronado looks poised to turn the corner this season.
The Mustangs boast a core of experienced players, including Honorable Mention All-District catcher Bodie Pope and Second Team All-District infielder Zarius Martinez. Key contributors like RHP/INF Isaiah Vazquez, OF Major Vera, INF Phoenix Vera, and INF Jaden Lira bring versatility and skill to the lineup. The roster is further bolstered by young talents such as OF Campbell Stanek, INF Zac Long, and RHP/INF Graham Hardin, adding depth and excitement for the future. The pitching staff will be headlined by Jusiah Thompson, with other arms looking to secure big roles for 2025.
