We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Head Coach Aaron Schneider and his Lutheran South Academy squad are primed for another strong campaign in 2025, building on the momentum of a 22-13 season that culminated in a deep playoff run as Regional Finalists. Known for their potent offense, the Pioneers return an impressive core of talented players and welcome promising newcomers and freshmen eager to make an impact. With key contributors at nearly every position, this team is poised to make another run at postseason glory.

The offense will be anchored by standout catcher Omar Serna (LSU commit), a 2024 First Team All-State honoree and District MVP. INF/RHP Victor Coronado (Texas State) and OF Jaylen Walker (uncommitted) provide further firepower and versatility, with both earning significant accolades last season. The pitching staff will lean on RHP Grant Burns (Wharton JC), an Honorable Mention All-State selection, while the infield defense is bolstered by MIF Easton Bettcher (Centenary) and junior SS/OF Marcus Cantu (Texas). A deep outfield, featuring returners James Stoeckel (Coastal Bend), Brody Smith (St. Thomas), and multi-talented Brycen Gilbert (uncommitted), adds both speed and consistency.

The Pioneers are not just banking on returning talent; top newcomers such as RHP/OF Asaiah Mask (San Jac) and RHP/CIF Wyatt Powell (uncommitted) are expected to contribute immediately. Additionally, the program’s future looks bright with a talented freshman class, highlighted by RHP/UTL Samuel White, INF/RHP Max Saldana, MIF Richard Jones Jr., and INF Alijah Banda. With depth, experience, and a proven offense, Lutheran South Academy is set to contend for a state title in 2025.
