Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Under Head Coach Kevin Clark, the Plano West Wolves enter the 2025 season looking to build off a solid 14-12 record in 2024. With a mix of experienced upperclassmen and talented newcomers, this year’s roster looks to clinch a playoff berth and potentially make waves in the playoffs.

The Wolves’ defense will likely be their calling card, anchored by standout catcher Mitchell Morton (Xavier commit), a 2024 First Team All-District selection. Morton, a 2023 Prep Baseball Future Games alum and current No. 92 player in the state, should pace the offense and be a steady presence behind the dish. Axel Chasak (Amarillo College commit), currently ranked No. 256 in the state, recently showed to be an athletic player with both the bat and glove at the South Texas Upperclass Uncommitted Games. Grayson Moore should bolster the infield and outfield. Ryan Little (2024 Honorable Mention All-District) returns as a key contributor on the mound and at the corners, while Armando Arias and Jackson Kilmer (Hillsdale College commit) provide depth across multiple positions. Keller Caulk, a rising junior who earned Honorable Mention All-District honors as a sophomore, adds another reliable option in the outfield.

Complementing this strong core are exciting newcomers such as Abraham Perez and Cayson Hodges, both from the class of 2026, who bring athleticism and potential to the middle infield and pitching staff, respectively. Additionally, freshman utility player and pitcher Hunter Jones (2028) is a name to watch for the future. The Wolves’ mix of veteran leadership and emerging talent makes them a formidable squad and a team to watch in the 2025 season.
