TEAM OUTLOOK
Head Coach Sergio Gonzalez and the Rio Hondo Bobcats enter the 2025 season poised for another strong campaign following a stellar 25-6 record in 2024, which saw them advance to the Area Finals. With experience as the team's defining strength, the Bobcats return a deep roster of proven talent, including several All-State and All-District honorees. Their wealth of seasoned players positions Rio Hondo as a contender for a deeper playoff run this year.
Leading the charge for Rio Hondo is utility player Ruben Castellanos, who earned 2024 Second Team All-State and District MVP honors. Joining him are shortstop Caleb Sandoval, catcher Aidyn Flores, and the versatile RHP/3B Rodrigo Saucedo—all 2024 First Team All-District selections. Outfielders Cesar Perea and Julian Serna further bolster the lineup with their speed and defensive prowess, while RHP/1B Christopher Galvan, a dual All-State honoree in 2024, anchors the pitching staff. This core group’s chemistry and ability to perform in key moments will be critical as the Bobcats aim for district supremacy and a deeper postseason run in 2025.
Adding to the team's depth are promising newcomers like outfielder Juan Padilla, pitcher Adrian Betancourt, and utility player Marcus Flores, all from the class of 2026. Their development will be instrumental in providing the Bobcats with fresh energy and versatility. Additionally, the program is keeping an eye on Sebastian Gonzalez, a freshman infielder from the class of 2028, who could make an early impact. With a mix of battle-tested veterans and exciting young talent, Rio Hondo is well-equipped to make 2025 a season to remember.
