TEAM OUTLOOK
Head Coach Jereme Wilson and the Rowlett Eagles enter the 2025 season with optimism, building on their 2024 campaign that saw them finish in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. The team boasts several key strengths, including exceptional pitching depth, strong defensive play, and a core of experienced players poised to elevate the program. With this year’s returning roster, Rowlett is positioned to potentially make a deeper playoff run in 2025.
Pitching will be a cornerstone of Rowlett's success, led by returning ace Tyler Holmes, a 2024 First Team All-District selection committed to Amarillo College. Holmes is joined by versatile two-way standout Landon Bertucci, who adds depth both on the mound and in the infield. Rising stars like Grady Holmes and River Kirkhuff, who bring valuable pitching contributions alongside their offensive skills, further strengthen the staff. Defensively, the team is anchored by catcher Jeffrey Claycomb, a 2024 All-State selection and the reigning District Offensive Player of the Year. Claycomb's ability to manage the pitching staff and lead the offense will be critical to the team's aspirations, as he is one of the top players in the country.
The Eagles also benefit from a mix of veteran talent and promising newcomers. In addition to established players like Roger Funke and Jake Usrey, the 2024 District Newcomer of the Year, the team welcomes exciting prospects such as Naphtali Orozco and Jack Macatee, who add versatility and depth. With a well-rounded roster and an emphasis on pitching and defense, Rowlett aims to build on last year's playoff appearance and contend for a district title in 2025.
