2025 High School Team Preview: Tomball Homeschool Program

Prep Baseball Texas Staff

The 2025 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

FRESHMEN TO FOLLOW

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Tomball Kings and Head Coach Philip Wilkins look to rebound in 2025 while boasting a mix of older and younger talent. The Kings will be led by a senior trio of OF Owen Wilkins, LHP/OF Logan Guinn, and RHP Mike Sharp.

Coach Wilkins expects the team strength in 2025 to be their defense and by adding INF Avery Bell (2026) and SS Asher Chapa (2028), that should only help the Kings with run prevention in the spring.

On the mound, RHP Mike Sharp will look to lead the staff after punching out 83 batters over 81.1 innings to the tune of an impressive 3.44 ERA. Two-way player Logan Guinn will also contribute on the mound for the Kings after recording 38 strikeouts over 41.1 IP.

The Kings will look to their senior trio and newly added pieces on the defense to keep runs off the board, while Sharp should stabilize the pitching staff throughout the spring, allowing other arms in the program to emerge. Look for Coach Wilkins’ 2025 squad to improve and continue to build off what they did in 2024.
