Our staff is working to become the #1 news source for Prep Baseball across the state of Texas. Remember to follow us on twitter (@PBR_Texas) and reach out to us with any news, commitments, or your upcoming workout and game schedule. We are hosting four EVENTS this winter to allow players the opportunity to be evaluated by our staff with video, scouting reports and verified statistics.

Since the launch of Prep Baseball Report Texas, our staff has been all over the state covering games and evaluating players. We recently released our first ranking with the 2018 class. This past weekend our staff was in Tomball to cover the College Prospects Showcase Tournament. Here are the underclass outfielders and catchers that stood out this past weekend.

Mario Castillo, C/OF, South Houston HS, 2018 (Banditos)
5-foot-8, 165-pound frame. The right-handed hitter starts from a tall, neutral, balanced stance, leg-kicks to get started then explodes on the ball with strength in the barrel. Took good swings and made hard contact all weekend including three home runs, 2 in championship play. To start the the championship game he doubled down the third base line driving in a run. In his third at bat he went deep to left field for his third home run of the tournament. Castillo was named the MVP of the tournament.

Zack Bordelon, OF, Cinco Ranch HS, 2018 (Hunter Pence - Clark)
6-foot, 175-pound, athletic frame. The left-handed hitter starts from a balanced, neutral stance with rhythm and relaxed hands. Simple load to get started and a smooth, flat hand-path that keeps the barrel in the zone a long time. Good plate discipline and shows good feel for the barrel. Hitting in the leadoff spot he had a triple in the left-center field gap and a base hit for an rbi. Runs well and showed that ability to hit a higher gear on the triple between 2nd and 3rd. Sneaky arm strength from left field.

Tre Jones, OF, Jersey Village HS, 2018 (Hunter Pence - Clark)
6-foot, 160-pound, long limbed, wiry, athletic frame. Moves well in the outfield and shows good range from gap-to-gap. The left-handed hitter took some good swings this weekend scorching a couple of balls, including a missile he hit up the middle on a curveball. If his overall strength improves, he will be an interesting player to follow throughout the next year.

Ben Hegedus, OF, Cinco Ranch HS, 2018 (Hunter Pence - Crew)
6-foot, 180-pound frame. The left-handed hitter took good swings on the weekend. Starts from a slightly crouched stance with bend in front leg. Barrel stays in the zone a long time with a smooth path and loose finish. Hit a double to right-center field with good back-spin.

Mike Lesniak, OF, The Woodlands HS, 2018 (Hunter Pence - Crew)
6-foot, 185-pound strong frame. Kid gets after it, first on and off the field. Took good hacks on saturday, including a hustle double on base hit to right-center field. Later in the game, he had a base hit to right field, and in his third at-bat he was a 4.59 on a ground ball to third. Made two really nice throws from left field to home plate with accuracy and carry in the arm.

Brandon Miller, C, Fort Bend Austin HS, 2018 (Fort Bend Texans Red)
Approximately 6-foot, 165-pounds, strong frame. Good hip and ankle mobility in his crouch behind the plate. Strong arm behind the plate, good release and exchange during games with 2.2-2.27 pop times. Homered to LF and shows bat speed and strength at contact.
