COMMITMENT SPOTLIGHT

Kendall George OF / Atascocita, TX / 2023

Today we were able to catch up with 2023 OF Kendall George to talk about his recent decision to commit to the University of Arkansas. George, a highly athletic outfielder that can cover a ton of ground with the chance to stay in centerfield down the road. Easily one of the most impressive and athletic players we saw this summer, making strong impressions at the Twelve Scout Day and North Texas Underclass Games.

PBR: Why did you choose Arkansas ?
George: I felt like it was the place that checked the most boxes for me. Great competition, great player development, and one of the best resumes in college baseball.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
George: Texas and Oklahoma State

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
George: Due to COVID coaches couldn’t make it out to watch in person. But we would have weeks at cotton ranch where they could join and watch our live-streamed games. But a big part of the relationship was built over the phone and I really fell in love with the way that they care for their players as people and not just baseball players.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
George: It’s definitely a big relief, the recruiting process is fun but also very stressful and sometimes I feel like it can get in the way of your game. I’m glad that I can focus on my game and prepare for my next step in this journey.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
George: I think the biggest factor had to be the consistency in their program year after year. Just really shows that it’s a top notch school and that’s something I’d love to be apart of.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
George: My family played a huge roll in where I am today, without them none of this would be possible and I can’t thank them enough for blessing me with this opportunity.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
George: I sorta knew what to expect because my older brother had to experience it before me. I feel like it was a pretty smooth process for me, I expected to be here because I hold myself to a high standard.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you ?
George: They feel like centerfield would be the best spot for me. It would best suit me for my ability to cover a lot of ground. And they see me as a top of the order kind of guy.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
George: This summer has probably been my favorite summer I've ever played in. This year has been full of ups and downs and I feel like it was never a dull moment with my guys out there on the field. They’ve brought a lot of light to this year for me and I can’t thank them enough.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
George: Steven Milam, the kid is gonna be great
