Outfielders

2019 Grads

2019 OF Jacob Bushnell (Marcus HS) has a strong, muscular frame at 5-foot-11, 175-pounds and started the day with a 6.93 60-yard dash. The right-handed hitter posted a 94 mph exit velocity and possesses fluid strength through the zone to go with projectable gap power. Starting from a tall stance, he triggers his hands back into a front arm bar and tips the barrel forward as he uses a reverse leg lift, then strides forward. Explosive lower half half transfer with a short path through the zone and high finish. In the outfield, he plays through the ball with rhythm, quick footwork, and a clean exchange into his gather that allows his arm to work well from an over the top slot with a top velocity of 86 mph to the dish. Moving forward, college programs still looking for projectable power with athleticism will want to see Bushnell early this spring.

2019 Fabian Bernal (John Paul Stevens HS) is still not done filling out his 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame and started the day with a 7.02 60-yard dash. The left-handed hitter took a quality round of BP, lacing balls through from the middle to pull side of the field, and launched a home run. He has quick-strong hands with good lag in the zone that creates easy whip and a loose finish and posted a top exit velocity of 87. In the outfield, he plays through the ball with natural rhythm and athleticism, with his exchange and crow hop synced up, allowing his long arm swing to work well from a high-¾ slot with a top velocity of 84 mph. On the infield, Bernal plays low with quick footwork and threw with a top velocity of 75 mph. On numerous occassions, we have seen him be on time and on the barrel. Moving forward, Bernal’s athleticism left-handed bat should make him a highly sought after recruit with upside.

2019 OF Matthew Bryant (Plano Senior HS) has an athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. The right-handed hitter showed off quick twitch hands during BP as he barreled up line drives from the middle of the field to the opposite gap with an inside out path and top exit velocity of 83 mph. Clean path through the zone with an easy effort swing allow his barrel to stay in the zone a long time. Defensively, Bryant can really move around in the outfield with smooth actions as he plays through the ball with rhythm, quick footwork, cuts distance, clean exchange into an athletic crow hop with a quick-loose arm swing and top velocity of 85 mph. Moving forward there is a lot to like about Bryant with his feel for the barrel and athletic actions in the outfield.
