Future Games Analysis: Catcher

WESTFIELD, IN - The Prep Baseball Report Future Games is the premier summer scouting event for uncommitted underclassmen. 253 college coaches from all over the country were in attendance. This was the first year for Team Texas to participate, with 26 players from around the state, including six that were on Team Select. Over the next several days we will be breaking down every player, based off positions. Team Texas’ roster was loaded with talent from around the state, including the catchers, with all three displaying why they will be great additions to recruiting classes in the near future, having the ability to step in and catch right away at the division one level.

NATHANIEL PRICEC / OF / MANSFIELD LEGACY, TX / 2020Price posted one of the best pop times of any catcher during the workout (1.88-1.93) with a velocity from the crouch of 78 mph. He has a super fast exchange with quick footwork that allows him to get rid of the ball with a short arm stroke. Price stands 5-foot-9 at 170 pounds, but his bat has consistently played bigger than his frame. The right-handed hitter has a balanced approach, starting from a tall stance then lifts his front leg as he triggers his hands back, aggressive hack with quick-strong hands (93 exit velocity) and high end barrel awareness. Price showed the ability to hit at a high level, collecting four knocks in three games with a handful of RBI. In game two, his first single, a rocket through the 6 hole, was followed by a base hit into right field. In game three, he had a huge two-RBI single that helped seal with win for Team Texas.
