Spring Branch ISD Tournament

ft. bend elkins vs. houston memorial - 02.23.17

Memorial overpowered a young Elkins team to start the season behind a strong pitching performance from right-hander senior Christian Roa, a Texas A&M commit. The Mustangs posted 10 hits on their way to out-scoring Elkins 7-2. For Elkins, the future is bright with some young talent, including two sophomores that show upside. Look for them to continue to improve throughout this year as their young talent acquires repetition and experience at the varsity level.

seguin vs. ft. bend elkins - 02.23.17

Seguin defeated Elkins 6 to 5 on a cold, breezy evening in South Texas. Seguin shows all the signs of contending in a very competitive 5A-District. Spring Branch ISD Tournament

george ranch vs. ft. bend elkins - 02.24.17

A talented George Ranch team got the win in a 5 inning, run-rule game with a final score of 16-3. Senior Dylan Rock, a Texas-San Antonio recruit, proved to be one of the strongest players on the field, highlighting his performance with a bullet of a throw from the right field corner to gun down an Elkins runner trying to advance to third base…

cy ranch vs. stratford - 02.24.17

Cy Ranch and Stratford took the field on a chilly evening in Houston for a quality pitching matchup between two uncommitted right-handers, senior Kel Bordwine, and junior Andersen “A.J.” Myers. A pitchers-duel ensued for the first five innings, but the Cy Ranch offense would prove to be too much for the Stratford bullpen, as the Mustangs defeated the Spartans 13-0.

Woodlands-Langham Creek Tournament

ft. bend kempner vs. langham creek - 02.25.17

The cold of Friday night gave way to warm sunshine on Saturday as Langham Creek and Kempner squared off in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated. The score was tied 2-2 in the sixth inning, when Langham Creek’s junior left-fielder, Korey Holland (Texas recruit), hit a sharp line drive that skipped past Kempner’s center-fielder. The ball rolled all the way to the wall as Holland came blazing around the bases (14.5-seconds) for an inside-the-park homerun, giving Langham Creek 3-2 lead heading into the last inning. Kempner has a strong, well rounded club, but the Lobos of Langham Creek scored eight more runs in the seventh for the 11-2 win.

klein vs. langham creek - 02.25.17

Tylor Fischer took the mound for Langham Creek against a formidable Klein Bearkats team in front of an estimated crowd of 20 professional scouts. This early season matchup had the feel of a late season playoff game, with good pitching and defensive highlights by both clubs. In the end, Langham Creek would outlast Klein, 3-2.
