MAGNOLIA VS. WILLIS

Adam Kloffenstein, RHP, Magnolia HS, 2018
TCU commit. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a quick arm stroke. His fastball got up to 95 a couple of times but was mostly 92-94 through the first three innings. Locates the pitch extremely well to both sides of the plate, showing more downward to his glove side. Kloff had great command of four pitches on Thursday night, all four coming from the same window. Features a plus changeup that he throws with fastball arm speed, heavy depth, and flashes some arm side fade. He used his changeup more the first time through the order, but did flash a couple of sliders with 11/5 shape at 84 mph. Also works in the occasional curveballl with more 12/6 shape at 79-80. The command and presence stood out, besides issuing one walk, the senior seemed to throw any pitch in any count, and could move his fastball around the zone. Went more to his slider in later innings, as the pitch has sharp break and comes out of his hand on the same plane as his fastball. Ultimately took the 1-0 win with a 12 K, no-hit performance. In a game that had plenty of energy and chirping between both teams, Kloffenstein was the aggressor. Seasoned approach on the mound, with tons of competitive fire. In the 7th, he was still throwing his fastball 90 mph, and his slider at 79.
