Power 25 Ranking: Week 8

TEXAS, USA - This season has been full of memorable moments for our scouting staff across the state, and last week was no exception as there was plenty of action with rivalry games and a big Non-District Game in Austin.


Top 5

#1 Colleyville Heritage (24-1) continues to take care of business in their district sweeping Boswell in two games, moving to 10-0 and have now won 16 in row.

#2 Argyle (23-1-1) has been doing much of the same, taking care of Krum and Trinity Christian last week. The Eagles have another big game against Decatur on Tuesday this week against highly touted 2019 LHP Bodi Rascon.

#3 Cypress Ranch (23-2-1) handled cross-town rival Cypress Woods last week with a two game sweep and they are now in the driver’s seat at 12-0 in District.

#4 Georgetown (26-2-1) had a huge week, moving up one spot from 5-4 and ahead of 6A Lake Travis with a 3-0 week and head-to-head win over the Cavaliers 7-5 on Saturday.

#5 Lake Travis (24-2) went 2-0 in District but lost on Saturday to Georgetown. They drop two spots this week.


New Teams

# 23 Gregory Portland (24-2) has been a bubble team for multiple weeks in row and they now enter the ranking for the first time after going 3-0 with wins over Incarnate Word 1-0, Laredo United 7-2, and Alice 12-1. One of their two losses is to #8 Calallen who they also beat.

#24 Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (20-5) is now 10-1 in District after going 2-0 last week and hold a two game lead over 2nd Place McAllen, whom they defeated earlier in the season 13-3. They face off with the Bulldogs again on Tuesday night.

#25 Ft. Bend Ridge Point (19-2-1) is rolling through 2019 with 17 wins in a row and a 10-0 District record after going 1-0 last week.


Bubble Teams & Big Games

There may not be a bigger single game this week than the one taking place tonight in Corpus Christi between #6 Veterans Memorial (26-3-1) and #14 CC King (21-6-1).

# 7 Prosper (24-4) has a decisive series with #17 Allen (22-5). Both clubs sit atop District 9-6A at 9-1.

#22 FW All Saints Episcopal (22-3) has a huge game with Liberty Christian on Tuesday night. All Saints took won the first meeting 2-0 in mid-March and both teams are now tied at 6-1 heading into this week.

Frisco Lone Star has made their case known all year with a 23-5 Overall record, 10-4 in District after sweeping Frisco Liberty last week. They sit in 2nd place in 9-5A and have a one game lead over Frisco Reedy, who they play this week.

The Marcus Marauders (20-9) won two 1-Run extra-inning ballgames last week against rival Flower Mound, 2-1 in 8 innings and 2-1 in 9 innings. With those wins, Marcus, Flower Mound, and Coppell are all in a 3-way tie for first place at 8-2. This week Coppell and Flower Mound will play a series that could decide who wins district 6-6A.
