SEASON PREVIEW

Coach Wallace returns a veteran pitching staff that includes three Division 1 commitments from a team that won 28 games last season. Highlighting the staff is 2019 LHP/OF Austin Wallace, a Texas commit. The left-hander is ranked No. 34 in Texas, No. 173 Overall, and has solid command of three pitches and the ability to put hitters away. Last season, Wallace finished with a 9-3 record and a 2.29 ERA on his way to earning 1st Team All-District. A two-way player and left-handed hitter, Wallace hit .333 last season and will likely be in the middle of the Jags order. 2018 RHP Caleb Burgess stands 6-foot-5, 180-pounds and can run his fastball up to the low-90's. The Rice commit is ranked No. 74 in Texas, and posted a 6-1 record last season. 2018 LHP Grant Georges is a Pepperdine commit with swing and miss stuff that is ranked No. 66 in Texas. Add in 2020 RHP/OF Cam Brown, a TCU commit that is ranked No. 5 in Texas, No. 26 Overall, and your looking at a staff that has the experience and depth to keep offenses off the board.

Leading the defense will be 2018 SS Carson Bradley, who is committed to Weatherford JC and started the past three seasons for the Jags. Look for 2019 Cole Antonelli, 2020 Tyler Talbert, and 2020 Will Miller to compete for the other infield spots. In the outfield, 2018 Thomas Cain (Angelo State commit) will likely start in centerfield, and look for two-way players Cam Brown and Austin Wallace to add thunder to the lineup at the corner outfield spots and DH role. Wallace hit .333 last season, and Brown tore the cover off the ball in the  Fall Metro Scout League. Look for Drew Kennedy to have an impact this year, as well as sophomore left-hander Andrew Kuni

The biggest challenge for the Jags will be navigating one of the most competitive conferences in Texas, but if the offense can score runs, they will be setup for another deep playoff run.
