SAN ANTONIO, T.X. - Sunday, our PBR Texas staff hosted the San Antonio Preseason ID to a much anticipated showcase and trials on the confines of Cornerstone Christian Academy. The event featured a talented group from the 2021-2023 classes. Today we highlight the prospects in attendance in our Quick Hits Notebook.

Mason Krahn

IF / RHP / San Antonio, TX / 2023

Krahn has continued to show improvement each time we have seen him over the past year. The long, lanky athlete started off the day well running a 6.97 60 yard dash. On the infield he was 88 across with clean, athletic actions and a strong arm. In BP he showed an athletic stance with a smooth load trigger and a long swing producing line drives to the pull side with good bat speed and a max exit velo of 89.3. On the mound, he was up to 84-8 mph with his fastball that flashed good IVB, 67-69 curveball flashing depth with 11/5 shape and a 71-72 changeup flashing arm-side action.


Brandon Ramirez

IF / OF / San Diego, TX / 2021

Ramirez was one of the best out there on Sunday. He ran a 6.72 60 yard dash to begin the day. In the outfield, he was 92 with accuracy and clean actions. On the dirt, he was 88 across the diamond with athletic actions and good life. At the plate, he has an athletic stance with a quick load trigger and a whippy swing. Ramirez hit plenty of line drives to the pull side with lots of loud contact throughout the round with an average exit velo of 86.02, a max exit velo of 97.5 and a max distance of 318 feet.


Tynan Gunn

1B / Cedar Park, TX / 2022

Gunn was another kid who showed good improvement since the last time we saw him by starting off the day running a 7.40 60 yard dash. Gunn showed a short, quick swing with a high hand setup showing good ability to stay inside the ball and take it to either gap while hitting one out to dead center. Gunn had an average exit velo of 85.32, max exit velo of 98.3 and a max distance of 371 feet. From 1B he was 87 showing good improvement with clean actions with the glove.


Hank Benny

IF / RHP / Lake Travis, TX / 2023

Benny showed quality athleticism on the day, starting off with a 6.91 60 yard dash. On the infield, he threw 86 across with clean actions and accurate throws from a short arm action. At the plate he made a good bit of loud contact, hitting plenty of line drives to the pull side with a max exit velo of 89.3. On the bump, he was 81-83 T84 with a 69-71 curveball that flashed side-to-side action and a 75-76 changeup.


Robbie Vela

IF / RHP / San Antonio, TX / 2023

Vela showed really well across the board on Sunday. On the infield, he was 90 across the diamond with smooth, clean actions with a loose arm. At the plate, he showed well hitting lots of line drives to the pull side with a max exit velo of 88.7, utilizing a leg kick to trigger his load and stride. On the mound, he was 84-86 with a firm fastball, 70-72 curveball that flashed side-to-side action and a 74-75 changeup with arm-side action.


Sean Moore

LHP / OF / San Antonio, TX / 2022

Moore had a quality day on Sunday. From the outfield, he was 87 with accuracy and good life. Also showed off good hands and footwork over at 1B. During BP, the switch-hitter showed a similar setup and swing from both sides with a wide base, slight barrel tilt trigger and a heel lift. Long swing with good extension produced plenty of line drives to the pull side from both sides of the plate, with a max exit velo of 90.4 and a max distance of 342 feet. On the mound, he was up to 81 with some arm-side run, curveball that was 63-66 and a changeup that was 70-71 with arm-side action and occasional depth, producing ground balls.
