The Texas Top Prospect Games were just over a month ago and since then a number of attendees have committed to Division I schools. Here is a list of the players and their commitments.

Mason LaPlante SS / 2B / Allen, TX / 2018

Yale recruit. 5-foot-10, 155-pound, lean, fast-twitch frame. LaPlante started the day by running a 6.79-second 60-yard dash. At shortstop, he plays catch at an elite level, he has smooth actions, quick footwork, takes good angles and makes the play on the run look easy with accurate throws. We also saw him at the DFW Area Code Tryouts where he made it to the game and played clean defense. The right-handed hitter creates good leverage and has a clean hand path with rhythm and finishes the barrel. He had an excellent at-bat in his first plate appearance against a 90 mph arm. LaPlante is a high academic student that has interest in academic schools, including military academies. For those schools looking for plus defender in the middle of the field, LaPlante is a player they will want to see sooner rather than later.

Jack Driskell SS / 3B / Stony Point, TX / 2018

Mclennan JC recruit. 6-foot-1, 175-pound, lean-muscular, long-limbed, high-waisted frame with plenty of room to add strength. Driskell may have been slightly unknown before the event, but that won’t last long, as the rising junior had a stellar all-around day. The shortstop shows clean, easy actions on the infield, working from an athletic, fundamental fielding position with soft hands and mid-line exchanges. Driskell has excellent footwork and throws with a quick arm stroke, accuracy and carry across the diamond. Offensively, the right-handed hitter made hard contact during the game with a double to deep centerfield, and a fly ball on the barrel to right field. Blinn JC recruit. Projectable, high-waisted 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame with plenty of room to add strength. Wolff started the day by running a 7.03-second 60-yard dash, and followed that up with a solid round of batting practice. The left-handed hitter works from a tall, balanced stance with his hands set high above his back shoulder. He lowers his hands as he lifts into a high leg kick, then lands with leverage and athleticism as he delivers the barrel. Gap approach with more power to come in the future as he finishes the barrel with ease. Lots of hard contact as he peppered line drives up the middle. Defensively, Wolff has a strong arm behind the plate at 79 mph, and pop times of 1.97-2.16. With his projectable frame, arm strength and athleticism, Wolff will be a quality sign for some lucky program.

Later in the day, Johnson, a left-handed pitcher, got on the mound and was 80-83 mph with his fastball with late arm side action.
