Senior Games: Pitching Analysis

HUNTSVILLE, TX - Here is the third installment of the positional analysis from the Texas Senior Games. This event was loaded with uncommitted talent, and a number of players that will be moving up the 2019 Rankings that we will release next week. Today, we bring you reports on twenty pitchers, including twelve top performers.
Top Performers
Mackenson Bobo, RHP/OF, Carthage HS, 2019
Bobo is a command right-hander with feel for three pitches that will be a quality addition to a recruiting class. Listed at 5-foot-8, 155-pounds, Bobo works from a ¾ slot with a loose arm stroke and quick hand out front. Pounds the zone with his fastball at 84-87 with arm side run. Spins his curveball for a strike with 10/4 shape at 72 mph, and his changeup is a legitimate pitch with arm side fade at 78-79 mph. Worth noting, the two-way player and right-handed hitter also ran a 6.73 60-yard dash, threw 92 from the outfield, and posted an exit velocity of 91. With his arm strength, athleticism, and ability to throw three pitches for a strike and track record for eating innings, Bobo will likely be a quality sleeper pick for a recruiting class.
Joe Slack, OF/LHP, Liberty HS, 2019
Slack had an impressive all-around day. After running a 6.8 60-yard dash, the 5-foot-9, 165-pound two-way player, flashed power to the pull side as he elevated the baseball with an exit velocity of 90 mph, driving the ball deep, including hitting a home run foul. Starting from a tall, open stance, he turns his hips using a leg kick as he strides forward, loading his hands back and down into a front arm bar. Rotates to contact, working on an uphill path as he snaps the barrel through with a high finish. During the game, he flew out on the barrel to centerfield during the game, and got a hustle-double down the left field line. Showcases easy actions in the outfield with smooth rhythm, quick footwork, and clean transition into an athletic crow hop that allows him to generate significant arm speed with a top velocity of 87 mph. The left-hander pounded the strike zone with a FB/SL/CB mix, working from a ¾ slot with his fastball at 83-85 mph with arm side life. His slider is sharp with 10/4 shape and depth at 75-78 mph, and acts more like a cutter with late depth. Also mixed in a 69 mph 11/5 curveball that pops up out of his hand but finishes with depth.
Luke Douthitt, RHP/1B, Plano West HS, 2019
Cisco JC commit. Douthitt has a long-limbed, projectable pitchers frame at 6-foot-2, 180-pounds. He was 86-88 early in his outing, creating tilt and angle on his fastball from the windup. The right-hander has a deceptive arm stroke with a quick hand out front that creates heavy movement on his fastball. Velocity drops a tick out of the stretch when he slide steps (82-85), but when he gets in a quarter turn with his hips, he still creates the same movement and athleticism down the mound with higher velocities. Curveball was 71 mph with 11/5 shape, and 66 mph out of the stretch.
Devon Patel, RHP/2B, Klein Oak HS, 2019
5-foot-11, 170-pound frame. Patel threw one of the best breaking balls of the day, and he threw it whenever he wanted. Working from a high-¾ slot, Patel has a clean arm swing with all three pitches coming out of the same window. His fastball comes out easy at 82-84 mph, but the curveball is a pure 12/6 hammer with sharp, downer break at 70-71. Also showed feel for a 77 mph changeup that he got a swing and miss from a LHH.
Parker Bigham, RHP, Barbers Hill HS, 2019
Bigham has a projectable, lean-muscular frame at 6-foot-4, 190-pounds. Working from a ¾ slot, the right-handers fastball was mostly 84-85, dropping only a time or two to 82-83. Showed good command of his fastball, getting a backward strikeout on a fastball in. Spun his curveball at 71-73 mph with 11/5 shape.
Kyle Mosley, RHP/SS, Lake Ridge HS, 2019
Mosley has plenty of room to add strength to his wiry frame at 6-foot-1, 145-pounds, and already has a quick arm. The right-hander sat 84-86, working from a long arm stroke. Hooks his curveball in the back but still throws it with similar arm speed at 65-67 with deep break and 10/4 shape.
Zachry Schneider, LHP, Atascocita HS, 2019
Schneider made quick work of his inning with quality fastball command and a solid changeup. The left-hander still has plenty of room to add strength to his 6-foot, 150-pound, wiry frame. He works from a ¾ slot with a whip-like arm swing. His fastball topped out at 82 mph, sitting only 76-80 with good arm side run on his two-seamer. Used a four-seamer to come in to right-handed hitters, making several quality pitches in, before going to his 70-72 mph changeup with arm side fade.
Taylor has a high-waisted, long-limbed frame at 6-foot-3, 175-pounds. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a long arm swing in the back. Smooth drop-and-drive delivery with a high leg lift, lands slightly close and across his body. Head stays on line with an athletic lower half finish. Throws a sinking fastball with late life at 81-83 mph that got on top of hitters quickly. Threw his curveball around the zone at 65-66 with big 10/4 bender shape.
6-foot, 175-pound, lean-muscular frame. Davis had a solid all-around day, standing out during the positional workout, and on the mound. He ran a 6.82 60-yard dash, laced line drives through the middle of the field during BP with an exit velocity of 98 mph, and threw 87 mph across the diamond. In the game, the right-handed hitter crushed a triple to right-centerfield, and worked a quick inning on the mound. Working with a long, loose arm swing from a low, submarine slot, his fastball had good arm side run at 79-81 mph, and he pulled the string on a couple of plus changeups at 69 mph. He also has a curveball that came in at 64 mph with side-to-side 9/3 action.
Jacob Henigan, RHP/3B, Buffalo HS, 2019
Henigan has a durable frame and strong lower half at 5-foot-10, 185-pounds. The right-hander showed plus command of his curveball at 71-73 mph, throwing it multiple times for a strike, and getting swings and misses. Works from a high slot with a drop-and-drive delivery with good tempo and some effort. Henigan’s fastball came in at 79-81 mph, but he spun his curveball early and often, locating it in the zone early, and burying it late for punchouts.
Easton Malin, RHP, George Ranch HS, 2019
Malin stands 6-foot-1, 195-pounds with a strong lower half. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a short arm swing and smooth drop-and-drive delivery down the mound, landing closed. Filled up the zone for the entire outing. His fastball has good arm side run at 80-81, topping out at 83. Curveball has 11/5 shape with early break at 66-68 and depth to finish.
Dylan McDonald, RHP/1B, The Woodlands College Park HS, 2019
McDonald has a strong, projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 190-pounds. The right-hander has a short arm circle that will vary between a ¾ and high-¾ release with a tall-and-fall delivery and athletic finish in his back side. His fastball was 80-81 from the windup (77-78 from the stretch) and he threw his curveball for a strike with tight rotation and short, late, 11/5 break at 69 mph.

Nathan Fackel, RHP/OF, R.L. Paschal HS, 2019
5-foot-8, 165-pound frame. The right-hander works from a ¾ slot with a drop-and-drive delivery and long arm swing. Turns his fastball over with some sink at 73-78 mph. His curveball has good 10/4 shape with early break at 64 mph. Showed the ability to command the zone with both pitches.
Ryder Garcia, 3B/RHP, Katy HS, 2019
5-foot-10, 160-pound, durable frame. The right-hander works high slot with a medium arm swing and tall-and-fall delivery. Straight fastball at 72-77 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape with early break at 60-66 mph.
Creighton Hansen, RHP, Liberty Christian HS
Hansen has a projectable, high-waisted frame at 6-foot-4, 195-pounds. The right-hander works from an over the top slot with a medium arm swing and drop-and-drive delivery. Creates good down angle tilt on his fastball with scattered command at 80-83 mph. Maintains arm speed on his changeup at 75 mph, and spins his curveball at 59-66 mph.
Rudy Ibarra, 1B/3B, Baytown Sterling HS, 2019
6-foot, 240-pound, broad shouldered frame. The right-hander works from a ¾ slot with a clean arm swing and drop-and-drive delivery. Threw his fastball for a strike, flashing arm side sink on his fastball at 77-80. Was able to manipulate his curveball in and out of the zone at 65-68 mph with 10/4 shape.
Trenton Koliba, RHP, Frisco Lone Star HS, 2019
6-foot, 150-pound frame. The right-hander varies his arm slot from low-¾ to side-arm at times with a reach in the back, and a tall-and-fall delivery. His fastball was 65-66 mph, while his curveball showed lateral break at 55-57 mph.
6-foot-3, 189-pound frame. The left-hander works from a ¾ slot with a long arm swing, and smooth drop-and-drive delivery. His fastball was 74-76 mph. Curveball had 2/8 shape with early break at 63-65 mph. Turned his changeup over with arm side fade at 72-73 mph.
Brandon Pearson, OF/RHP, George Ranch HS, 2019
5-foot-9, 170-pound frame. A two-way player and right-handed pitcher, Pearson works from a ¾ slot with a tall-and-fall delivery and athletic finish. His fastball ranged from 70-75 mph with arm side run. Slider has early break and 10/4 shape at 66 mph.
Joshua Teague, LHP, James Bowie HS, 2019
Teague has a sturdy, durable frame at 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame. The left-hander works from a high-¾ slot with tilted shoulders and quick arm swing. Short stride down the mound with a tall-and-fall delivery. Fastball flashes tilt and angle at 79-81, topping out once at 83 mph. Curveball varies in shape depending on his finish, but shows deep break at 66 mph.
