Showcase Circuit: Others To Watch

Nathan Rode
National Supervisor

If there is an offseason in baseball, it’s right about now. To fill the void, we’re taking a look back at the showcase season—the summer and fall—and highlighting some favorite prospects. We’ve already highlighted standout hitters and pitchers. Now, I’m taking a look at some other players to watch—“gut feel guys” that may have been less heralded throughout the summer and fall, but warrant a close following until June nonetheless.

Bo Blessie, RHP, Midland HS, TX
Blessie has a lean, projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 160 pounds and jumped out at the Area Code Games, showing electric stuff despite mediocre results. He has a long, loose arm action and his fastball ranges from 90-94 mph with life. He can get a little wild as he pitches with effort and falls off to the first base side, so he’ll need to harness his delivery moving forward. In addition to the fastball, he has a sharp breaking ball with above-average spin.
