season preview

A year after claiming the 20-2A conference, the Bobcats bring back ample firepower for another title run. Led by Stacey Bailey, the strapping right-hander who compounded a crazy 0.47 ERA with eight wins as a sophomore, Kerens isn’t short of pitching. Bailey, also a bull of a runner on the Kerens football team, was an All-State pitcher a season ago who also hit .550 at the plate. Add in All-District players like juniors Cayden Henderson, Tyson Garrison and even sophomore Tate Engel, Head Coach Jayson Engel will have plenty of mound experience to lean on.

Coming back from Tommy John surgery is Noeh Solis, a former First-Team All District player likely to patrol shortstop for the Bobcats. To Noeh’s right at third base will be his brother Mitchell, a three-time First-Team All District selection who hit .404 as a junior. Outfielder Garrett Kilcrease, an athletic outfielder that managed a .450 average in 2016, adds another potent bat into the Coach Engel’s lineup.
