season preview

For Head Coach Jason Starnes, 2017 will see a team heavy in gifted lettermen fortified by an injection of youth. After tough-luck injuries forced him out of his natural catching spot, senior Chris Torres will once again man the backstop for the Steers. The district’s Offensive MVP and an All-State selection as a junior, Torres will provide ideal senior presence needed in any dugout. Christian Poullard, an All-District outfielder as a sophomore, should again see ample improvement as junior.

For Coach Starnes, the exciting development of Fort Worth’s first middle school baseball program will see its dividends with three prospective freshman starters. The big-bodied freshman Adrian Gonzalez already has the frame and build of a potential star, while the speedy Eric Tovar should see some sort of role in his first year at North Side. Freshman infielders Eric Segovia and Sabino Ramirez will also have every chance to wrangle playing time for the Steers.
