season preview

Following an impressive 2016 season that saw Shiner High School as one of the final sixteen teams standing in the UIL state tournament, the Comanches will look to once again march down the warpath. Sure in talent, Ty Boedeker is a lock to pace the Shiner pitching staff. Boedeker is a 6-foot right-hander with room still to grow into his frame, with a developing mid-80’s fastball. When not on the mound, Boedeker is a speedy athlete with quick hands from the left side of the plate capable of using his legs to get on base.

Back at catcher is Brandon Cerny, a backstop with consistent pop times. A solid pitch framer and blocker, the senior leader behind the plate is no slouch with the bat either. Cerny will be seeing more of sophomore Hunter Kloesel, a right-handed pitcher with a solid foundation to build upon. With a fastball creeping close to 80 MPH and impressive command for such a young hurler, Kloesel is an interesting prospect to watch going forward.
