Scouting Report

01.21.16

6-foot-1, 175-pound, projectable, athletic frame with well defined lower-half and broad shoulders. Gil, who committed to TCU the week after the event, put together a great day. He registered the top fastball velocity, top infield velocity and second best exit velocity. At shortstop, Gil has smooth rhythm, soft hands, fluid footwork and quick exchange. Gil showed advanced arm strength with carry and accuracy at 91 mph across the diamond. He made the run-through play and threw from different arm angles with athleticism. Offensively, the right-handed hitter starts from a tall stance. Loads with smooth rhythm to create good separation as he lands, then explodes on the ball with good leverage and bat speed. He squared up balls to the whole field during batting practice and had an exit velocity of 92 off the tee.

On the mound, the right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with quick, loose, arm action. Shows a smooth delivery with athleticism and repeatability. Starts with slower tempo to gather with hip turn at balance point. Leads with his front hip down the mound with ease, lands in line with his front foot closed, driving his hips through release point. In one inning of work, Gil's fastball ranged from 90-92 mph with slight run on his two-seamer. He was able to throw his slider from 79-80 mph with tight spin and late life. Gill also shows a feel for a changeup at 78 mph that has arm-side fade.

10.16.16
6-foot-1, 175-pound athletic frame. He showed off quick twitch, athletic movements at shortstop along with a strong throwing arm. He ranged to both sides with grace, and has a nice set-up at the plate with a short, line drive stroke.
