Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. 

 

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

2023 OF/RHP Nehomar Ochoa Acosta - Galena Park - Houston Commit

 Ochoa was a key player in Galena Park's two big wins last week. In six at bats, he managed to drive in nine runs on four hits. The Houston commit had two grand slams and two singles to earn him Player of the Week honors for week 5. We have also seen him look sharp on the mound this season, up to 93 with good command and pitchability.

 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

2024 RHP Donnie Edgar - Saginaw - Uncommitted

 Edgar is off to a great start on the season and tossed a gem last week. He went eight innings of no hit baseball and struck out ten. He has now pitching fifteen innings in district and only allowed two hits while striking out eighteen. We saw Donnie at the Dallas Preseason ID in January where he caught the scouting staff's eye, with a sharp bullpen where the changeup really stood out as a quality secondary pitch.
