TX Player & Pitcher of the Week: Week 7

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
2023 OF/RHP Nehomar Ochoa Acosta - Galena Park - Houston Commit
Ochoa earns his second Player of the Week honor in week 7. The physical two-way drove in seven runs over four at bats for Galena Park. He had three extra base hits, two doubles and a triple and also scored three runs. Ochoa can definitely change the game on both sides of the ball and we continue to see that in his strong senior season.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
2023 RHP Kai Langford - Bellaire - Mineral Area College Commit
Langford, who we last saw at the Hunter Pence Scout Day in the Fall, tossed a no hitter for Bellaire in week 7. He worked efficiently, allowing only one walk and having an 82% first pitch strike rate. The Mineral Area College commit finished the outing with ten strikeouts. He also helped his own cause with a single, a double and an RBI at the plate.
