WACO, TX - The PBR Texas All-State Games was a huge success on Sunday, November 4. The top talent in from the 2020-2022 classes converged on the campus of Baylor University to compete against players from all over our great state. We have highlighted a number of groups over the past couple of days, and today we continue with more position players.

2020 SS Stanley Tucker (Lamar Consolidated HS) has a fast-twitch, high-waisted, lean-muscular frame at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds. Ran a 6.92 60-yard dash to start the day. Defensively, Tucker can handle the ball in the middle of the field with a mid-line exchange, outstanding glove action and smooth footwork as he plays through the ball. Made a great play during the game on a chopper that he came and got right off the bat, picked the short hop, spun to his glove side, and started the double play at second, which they ultimately finished. Arm works from different slots, posted a top velocity of 86 mph, and he can play on the run. High motor, top step guy. The right-handed hitter flew out on the barrel a couple of times during the game and posted a top exit velocity of 86 mph.

2020 SS Cameron Yadon (Bridge City HS) has a high-waisted, athletic, quick-twitch frame at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. Long stride runner with an easy gate, ran a 6.86 60-yard dash. Really like the right-handed hack, quick-strong hands with rhythm and lag in the barrel as he stays in his legs and delivers the barrel with gap power and a loose finish. Quick arm across the infield, moves easy laterally. The athleticism and the hit tool stand out and he is going to be a lot of fun to watch as he continues to fill out his frame.

2020 OF Sam Hunt (Marcus HS) is an athletic left-handed hitter that coaches will want to get out and see this spring. Starting from an open stance, he coils down into his legs as he triggers his hands down and back, pinching his knees together before striding forward. Slots the barrel in the zone then works on an upward path through contact with loose hands. Squared it up during the game, putting together competitive at-bats and making hard contact, including a single. Ran a 7.06 on a slower track, and threw 83 from the outfield.

2020 OF Cole Smajstrla (Pearland HS) is all business on the baseball field and although he didn’t have much to show for it during the game, he is certainly a hitter that college coaches will want to see this spring. He has a balanced setup with quick-strong hands. Took a number of quality hacks during the game and made a pass on a couple of balls that he popped up. Aggressive approach, attacks the elevated breaking ball, and was is on time with velocity.

Keep an eye on 2020 OF Weston Valasek (Tompkins HS). The right-handed hitter has quick hands that whip the barrel through the zone, creating line drives through the middle of the field on an inside-out, short path. Plays aggressive in the outfield and plays through the ball with athletic footwork, clean exchange and throws with carry at 84 mph. Hosed a runner at the dish during the game and ran a 6.86 60-yard dash.

2021 3B Ty Johnson (Marcus HS) has been spending the gall on the gridiron playing cornerback for the Marauders, but the left-handed hitter can still show well at a fall event. Starts from a tall stance, then loads with a short leg kick as he triggers his hands back, landing square. Quick hands whip the bat on an inside-path as he delivers the barrel with low effort. Middle of the field approach, but he can still turn on the ball on the inner half, elevating it to the pull side. Made a nice play at third base during the game when he drop stepped to get a big hop to his glove side. Clean exchange into an elbow dominant arm stroke with a clean release.

2020 3B Austin Eaton (Lone Star HS) has a strong, broad frame at 6-foot-1, 200-pounds. The right-handed hitter has a simple, flat swing with real strength in his hands that produced hard, loud contact in the middle of the field with a top exit velocity of 95 mph. Starts from a tall stance with high hands, then loads back easy as his hands slide back and down. Ran a 7.28 60-yard dash and threw 84 mph across the daimond.

2020 3B Ian Mason (Euless Trinity HS) spends the fall on the gridiron, and at 6-foot-3, 210-pounds, he wouldn’t be my first pick to match up against in a tackling drill. The right-handed hitter has big time juice in the bat with pull side power. Uses a leg kick to load as he triggers his hands, landing balanced with good separation. Explosive extension through contact that should allow him to contine to add power as he develops. Repeatable hack with a short path, doesnt try to do too much. Definately a corner bat to watch this spring. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash, and threw 83 mph across the infield.

2021 OF Bryce Johnson (McKinney HS) has a long-limbed, athletic frame at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, with plenty of room to add strength over the next couple of years. The arm strength (88 mph) and bat speed (89 mph) is in there, to go with feel for the barrel in games as he squared up a ball for a single.

2020 OF Tyler Douglas (John Cooper) plays with an aggressive mentality and showed off his bat speed from the left-side by posting an 89 mph exit velocity and driving balls deep to the pull side during BP. Uses a big leg kick to generate leverage as he walks away from his hands, and his lower half transfers with authority as the barrel works on an upward plane with lift and a loose finish. Plays through the ball with soft hands and athletic footwork in the outfield, throwing with solid arm strength and carry (88 mph).

2021 OF Tyler Collins (McKinney Boyd HS) is one of the top uncommitted players in the Texas 2021 class, and continues to draw the attention of college coaches with his fast hands from the left side of the plate and ability to square up velocity during games. Moves easy in the outfield and can cover a ton of ground. His arm strength has improved recently as he threw 85 from the outfield, and posted a top exit velocity of 91 mph. . 6.99, 85 of, 91 exit

2021 SS Luke Smith (Calallen HS) posted solid numbers for a sophomore shortstop. After running a 7.09 60-yard dash, he posted a 90 mph exit velocity off the tee. The right-handed hitter has a balanced setup with flex in his lower half, and uses a simple load and short stride as he triggers his hands back. Back knee fires forward as he slots the barrel into the zone, hands work quick on an inside-out, short path, producing hard line drives during batting practice. Scorched a single to centerfield during the game. On the infield, is where Smith really stands out as he plays through the ball with smooth actions, soft hands, midline exchange, quick release and his arm works from different slots with a top velocity of 81 mph across the diamond.
