LAKEPOINT - On Sunday, the Texas Junior Futures team opened up bracket play with a quarterfinal matchup against Missouri, semifinal matchup against Nevada, and the championship against Michigan with two come-from-behind wins on the day.

2025 C/RHP Luke Billings started the game and settled in after giving up a run in the 1st inning. Billings added two hits of his own including a double.

2025 OF/LHP Jody Murillo finished the final 3 innings with 4 strikeouts against Missouri. Murillo showed great resilience getting out of all three innings with runners in scoring position and stranding them on base. He had 2 hits against Missouri as well.

2025 IF/RHP Jake Fults came in clutch against Missouri in the 5th with a triple to LCF scoring Juan Diego Amescua to tie the game at 2 before scoring the go-ahead run on a bunt single from Ronin McCraw giving Texas a 3-2 lead.

2025 IF Matthew Boughton was tremendous with glove all day long. Started with a great play up the middle to cut down the tying run at home against Missouri and then made two back-to-back really nice plays at 2B against Nevada. He also had an RBI single to tie the game against Nevada.

2025 C Mitchell Morton continued his quality performance with 2 hits, bringing his team-lead to 5 hits for the tournament. Morton was also a steading presence for the entire team behind the plate and made a nice tag on the receiving end of Boughton's play to cut down the tying run against Missouri.

2025 RHP/IF Aiden Brantley went 4 scoreless innings total on Sunday finishing the final 3 innings against Nevada and then another inning starting the championship against Michigan. FB 81-83 T84 filling up the strike zone, getting soft contact with CB 66 & CH 74.

2025 RHP Asher Levy started the semifinal against Nevada going 2 innings, striking out the side in the 2nd. FB 75-77 T78 with strikes to both sides of plate while mixing in a CB 61-64.

2025 IF/RHP Juan Diego Amescua came in relief of Brantley against Michigan and went 2 scoreless innings. FB 78-81 with command at bottom of zone, CB 68-70 with sweeping action at times. Amescua also had quality at-bats all week long in the middle of the lineup.
