1/23/2023 - Our staff has always been a fan of Broderick, and he showed up Sunday showing significant gains and improvement across the board. The physical backstop showed off good athleticism for a catcher with a 7.05 60. He followed that up with a very impressive defensive workout. He was 90 from the outfield, but he looked really good on his throw downs to second. He was 1.95-2.05 on his pop times with good feet and a strong accurate arm. He is a good receiver behind the plate with quiet actions and strong wrists.
At the plate, Broderick showed some power potential from the left side. He had a max exit velo of 96.7 and max distance of 363 ft. He has a pretty simple operation in the batter’s box, allowing him to repeat his swing consistently and use his strength and athleticism to impact the baseball. As he continues to sync his lower half and upper half up, the consistent hard contact will continue to show up.
Broderick has everything you look for in a frontline catcher. He can defend, offers power from the left side of the plate, and is a tough kid. Broderick is poised for a breakout season.
